If you read my President’s post from last year (find it HERE), you’ll know May stands for Mayhem in my house! Too many things are ending at the same time, and I’m barely dreading water, frazzled in my attempt not to drown in my shark-infested (and largely self-induced) sea of responsibility. This picture, although taken before Mayhem, sort of sums up what my life feels like this month–blurry and out of focus, and while I’m smiling, my eyes are barely open…and everyone else sails by me looking gorgeous and well-rested. *Sigh*
So, in an attempt to be mindful of my time, as well as your own, I’ll keep this month’s post brief. Here’s what you’ll need to know this month:
Monday, May 4: PRO members may register for an agent/editor appointments at the annual RWA conference this July HERE.
May 4–8, 2015: Starting Your Story in the Right Place by Presenter: Kristan Higgins. The class will take place on an RWA U forum in myRWA and is offered at no cost to members. REGISTER HERE
Wednesday, May 6: PRO-be/PAN-be meeting at the Homosassa Library from 10-1pm. This is the time to ask YOUR specific, writing-related questions, so don’t miss out!
Saturday, May 30: 10am-2pm is our monthly SSRA meeting. Guest Speaker Journalist Buster Thompson joins us to share his experiences writing for the Citrus County Chronicle, including how to write to a deadline and what editors look for in quality writing.
Keep treading water, Mermaids and Mermen, and I promise to do the same! That’s one great thing about our writing organization–we help each other stay afloat when the writing gets tough!
