Did you know that February is Creative Romance Month? As romance authors, this is a big month for us! Here are some dates to make the most of the month for you and your writing:

  1. TODAY: Check and see how you’re doing on your passport goals. If you need a kick start, listen again to the “Writer’s Road Map to Success in 2014” webinar, grab your February calendar, and make yourself some to-dos!
  2. February 6: Attend our PAN-be meeting, where we will be discussing marketing opportunities for your book(s).
  3. February 11: This is “Make a Friend” Day—Reach out to someone you don’t know well either in SSRA, on Facebook, or when you’re out and about today, and make a new friend! Writing is a solitary life, and I know my friends are the ones I lean on to keep me sane.
  4. February 14: Valentine’s Day! Celebrate the day by doing something special for those you love. Get your Valentine’s groove on by writing that steamy scene today!
  5. February 17: President’s Day is also known as the “Random Act of Kindness” Day—today is your chance to make someone else’s day, either anonymously, or not. As writers, some ideas might be to write a review on a book you loved, or send a note to your favorite up and coming author. Pay it forward today!
  6. February 20: Today is “Love your Pet” day—give your favorite furry, feathered or finned friend a special treat. Then, when it’s writing time, use your pet as your muse and write a scene that involves your character and his/her pet!
  7. February 22: Attend SSRA’s fantastic “Craft a Novel Boot camp” from 9-2pm at the Hampton Inn to fill your writer’s toolbox this year, and get you on the right track, no matter your genre.
  8. February 28: Did you know this is called “Public Sleeping Day?” If you’ve managed to do everything on this list, then you deserve a nap!! J

Happy Creative Romance Month to all of my Mermaids/Mermen!

President at SSRA
Dylan Newton was born and raised in a small town in Upstate New York where the local library was her favorite hang-out. Despite earning a degree in English Literature, Dylan spent more than a decade sidetracked by an executive position in corporate America where she swears she contracted testosterone poisoning. After leaving, she dedicated herself to more estrogen-rich passions, like motherhood, writing romance novels and her never-ending quest for the perfect date night.

Dylan married her high-school sweetheart and they are busy living out their own happily ever after in sunny Florida with their two incredible daughters and a snoring Shiz-Tsu.
